"You don't have to be great to start,

but you do have to start to be great!"

My name is Janine Watkins. I like in Surrey UK.

I started colouring in January 2020 with Kit and Clowder Colouring Classes.  I soon got the bug!  My dream was to own a full set of Copic Colouring markers and I started my collection with some skin and hair colours as this is what I discovered were my favourite things to colour. I soon realised that my dream was maybe a little  unrealistic and if I wanted a full array of colours I needed to lower my expectations (or take out a hefty bank loan!) I then discovered the Spectrum Noir Illustrators and decided these were a great alternative!.

Through Kit and Clowder I discovered the artist Conie Fong.  I absolutely adored her images and decided to purchase some.  I posted one of my creations in the Kit and Clowder Facebook Group and was so excited to get a message from the Conie Fong Facebook administrator asking me to enter my image into their March monthly colouring challenge.  I nervously accepted the challenge thinking that I really wasn't good enough, but to my surprise I won!  This was just the confidence boost I needed and it also meant that I got to choose some more of Conie's images which I absolutely adore.

In May 2020, Gloria contacted me again as a result of me entering more challenges and asked me if I would like to be a guest designer for 2 months in June and July.  I jumped at the opportunity as I love colouring the images.  I have so enjoyed my first month as guest designer and can't wait for July. I have also been offered an extension for August which of course I have accepted!  Gloria has encouraged me to enter blog challenges and I have done a few which you will see from my blog.  I was very fortunate to win the QKR challenge in May and I have also been asked to be a Guest Designer for the Colour Crazy Blog starting in July for 3 months. I was a little apprehensive as the images come from a variety of designers and I was (am!) worried that I might be able to do them justice.  However I also saw this as an opportunity to challenge myself and hopefully developing myself further by being taken out of my comfort zone.  I have picked up 2 projects so far and I am looking forward to these.  Keep an eye on my blog to see how I get on! It's going to be a challenge navigating the technology but I am hoping the team will be patient with me! They all seem lovey so far!

I am so grateful that I decided to have a go at colouring and can't thank Kit and Clowder enough for the colouring classes.  Alyce is an amazing teacher and is so generous in giving private one to one feedback.  I still have a lot to learn but with her continued support I know that if ever I am struggling she will be there with helpful advice and tips and words of encouragement to help me develop further.

I have also found a great friend in Gloria Shirr from the Conie Fong art group.  She has encouraged me and introduced me to the blog challenges.  Gloria was the inspiration behind me staring my own blog. and hope you enjoy looking at my projects.  Still a lot to learn about this new world. Never thought at my age that I would be entering the world of blogging!!

Thank You for visiting.
